Match Report – N&LCC 3rds vs County Officers

Result – County Officers won by  145 runs

Fielding first, Narborough’s young bowlers struggled with the windy conditions and the constant change of a right and left handed opening partnership. Pick of the bowlers was Ryan Wallace who bowling into the wind, restricted the otherwise free scoring as his opening spell of six overs went for just 14 runs including eight in his last over. Chances in the field were few and it wasn’t until Harry Hill’s first over of his second spell that a wicket fell with the score on 158. Struggling to get someone to bowl into the wind with some control, John Smith brought himself on and was unlucky not to pick up a wicket in his first over but the ball cleared the fielder and went for four. However, he did pick up the last wicket and three overs later the County Officers innings ended on 214 for3.

The Narborough innings started with the much awaited question being answered “Could the Vicar get a run in May?” Second ball was hit straight to square leg who dropped it and a single was taken too much applause! With that out of the way Harry Hill decided to test the same fielder with a different result and departed. George Coser started well with a good defence but was bowled for 5 after six overs. Then Barker then put on a partnership of 33 with Bray until he was bowled by one that kept a shade low. Unfortunately after that it was a quick succession of wickets as the remaining 7 wickets fell in just 9 overs.
