Club History
Although the records to hand show Club Officers Elected since 1936, the Club History can be traced back a lot further. It was brought to our notice by the Cricket Author E.E.Snow that a Match was played at Narborough between an All England Team and Narborough on the 15,16,17th June 1868.
The game played 100 years ago was when the great W.G.Grace was in his early 20's and a regular visitor to the Narborough home of Dr J.Beresford. The match was arranged to last 3 days, but was cut short not due to the weather, but the scores were so low that the England XI won easily in 2 days. On a pitch specially prepared by a local farmer, but which was later referred to as 'perhaps the worst on which a great match of cricket was ever attempted'. Narborough's 22 strong team batted first and scored 37 runs. England replied with 92 during the latter part of the first day and early stages of day 2. Narborough made 38 runs in the 2nd innings.
